Michigan TU News:
MITU River Keepers Program
Tuesday, 16 February 2010 00:00

Many of you are now familiar with the MITU River Keepers Volunteer Stream Monitoring Program.  The primary goals of the MITU River Keepers Program are to collect data that will help guide future conservation and restoration efforts of coldwater streams, while providing hands-on volunteer opportunities for Trout Unlimited members, and providing meaningful data to state agencies.  Of course monitoring of this nature requires equipment.  At the January council meeting we distributed the attached flyer requesting financial support from chapters for shared equipment.  Sharing some large pieces of equipment will reduce the cost of monitoring for chapters across the state making it possible for more chapters to participate.

We know that some chapters have a formal granting process, if your chapter has a granting process please let us know and we will be happy to submit a proposal.  If your chapter does not have a granting process we would urge you to consider making a donation to help purchase the shared equipment outlined in the attached flyer.  This equipment will help us increase our monitoring capacity for fish, flow, habitat, and temperature.

If your chapter would like to make a donation please send a check to Michigan Trout Unlimited care of Robb Smith at:

2114 7th Street
Bay City, MI 48708

Thank you for your consideration.

Best Regards,
